This song brings me back to the 90’s baby.  I knew it was from a movie soundtrack, but I had to look it up because I forgot what it was. It was called Boys on the Side. I don’t remember much of the movie, but I remember this song. I remember them when this song was playing and I got the soundtrack and played this song a thousand times. I kept thinking how much I wanted to multiply life by the power of two but it seemed so elusive to me. I was only 20 years old and a hopeless romantic, and so naive. But even though I was naive, I knew that was what I wanted wasn’t just romance. I wanted to know what it was like to have this kind of intimacy they are singing about. The closer I’m bound in love to you, the closer I am to free? I wanted to know what that what like.

Some people think love is luck. I can’t remember who said it, but luck comes from hard work. So does love. Now I know I had to give up who I was in order to become the person who could attract a life multiplied by the power of two. I had to stop pretending everything was fine with me, and start telling the truth so I could have a relationship with a man who knows the things that I am afraid of I’m not afraid to tell. Love comes from the daily transformation of yourself and your beliefs. If I want to leave a legacy that we loved each other well, then I need to speak to him with kindness and compassion. Which you can only do if you learn how to treat yourself and talk to yourself with kindness and compassion. We are all little girls and little boys inside, no matter how many birthdays we have. We like to call them levels. So instead of just “getting older:” we “level up.”

All I know is that I never would have written a book, I never would have started my own business, and I never have felt so solid and safe, being bound in love. Having a partner who lifts you up, supports you, cheers you on, funds your dreams, never lets you get discouraged, tells you to keep going is almost impossible to describe to someone who has never experienced that. But I’m going to try. For you single moms, you absolutely can do anything you have dreamed of doing, and create anything you want to create without a husband. And, if attracting your soulmate is in your heart, then that is also meant to be for you. Get ready. And believe that 1+ the right 1=infinity.
