When I started the journey toward finding my soulmate, I truly wanted a man that would say “I’m a soldier at your side!” So when my inner pessimist raised her evil head, and I couldn’t turn her off, I turned to music with powerful lyrics to drown her out. If there is one man like Scott Leonard who sings “I am a soldier at your side” in “4u4now4life: then I figured there had to be others somewhere out there! And I was right. It was years later when my future husband would prove he was worthy of soldier status.

I wanted a soldier to stand by my side.

Last September I was taking a yoga class, and the room started to spin like the Gravitron. I couldn’t stand up. I couldn’t walk. I needed help to the bathroom, and I couldn’t stop vomiting. The owner of the studio called the fire department, then the ambulance. And all I could think was I wanted my phone so that I could call my husband.

When they finally brought me the phone so that I could call him, all I could get out of my mouth was, “I need you.” (Sounds silly and stupid, but it was actually very scary and traumatic. I have never been in the hospital before, except to have my two children. Oh, and I haven’t done yoga since.) He asked where I was, and I told him the name of the emergency room. Then he dropped what he was doing, in fact he ran out of his meeting, sped to the ER to be by my side, and sat there for four hours until my nausea finally subsided. Then took me home and picked up the children, made dinner for them, and took care of everything for several days while I was recovering.

I finally found my soulmate and the pieces fit together

Now, that’s a soldier. When I met him, and we went on my last first date, I didn’t know exactly the time or place he would be called up to ‘war’ but it didn’t matter. Honestly I hadn’t thought about this song for a while. But when it was in my playlist, it helped me to stay focused on what I wanted. With music. And I got my soldier by my side.

If you haven’t heard this song, I strongly suggest it. There’s NO WAY you can be in a bad mood when this one is on!
